Since 1999 Linking Communities for Educational Success has helped many children in Southeast D.C. improve both academically and socially. After completing middle school our students return to the program to lend a helping hand. In an effort to help students continue with their positive development LINK has created High School Internship positions within the organization.

Anthony Fouch from Eastern High School and Sharon Weaver from the Friendship Collegiate Academy High School are the first two students to participate in this program. Anthony says that, "LINK taught me that I could be anything I wanted to be when I grow-up, and not to give up on my dreams." Anthony also says, "I like helping out at LINK but it is nice to earn a little money doing it too."

LINK: Student SpotlightGreg is a sixth grade honor roll student at Sousa. Greg has been one of our most responsible students during both the After-School Academy and our summer camp program. He is always willing to lend a helping hand, and is always focused on completing assignments during study/tutoring time. Greg says" I want to be a police officer when I grow up and work on the SWAT Team". Greg says he likes LINK because, "It is fun, all of the activities. And LINK helps me a lot with my reading and math. I want the LINK program to always be around for us kids." For his excellent grades, positive attitude and his ability to lead by example Greg Mccadden is in the LINK Student Spotlight this month.

After-school activities are essential for students to receive a well rounded education. The LINK after-school and Saturday Academies supplement and deepen the classroom experience while improving self-esteem outside the academic arena. LINK works toward success by offering opportunities for leadership and collaboration with peers, as well as widening the circle of caring adult mentors around the children of Southeast D.C.

LINK DC Helping Adolescents Reach Their Full Potential

Television, videogames and idleness occupy much of the discretionary time of adolescents in the District of Columbia. LINK helps adolescents reach their full potential through a combination of traditional and innovative programming with an emphasis on creativity, intellectual and emotional growth. We strive to create a positive, enriching environment where student can be challenged and have fun.
